Develop a Child Africa Ministries (DACAM) is a Christ-centered nonprofit organization founded in 2011 and based in Kampala, Uganda. DACAM serves vulnerable families and children across three communities: the Katoogo Slum near Gaba, Kyagwe Mukono across Lake Victoria, and Lugazi Kasokoso east of Kampala. Today, the ministry supports approximately 200 families and more than 500 children.
Many of the families in Katoogo live on government-owned land with limited infrastructure and frequent flooding. In response, DACAM provides holistic care that includes school fees, urgent medical assistance, food support, clothing, vocational training, and Christian counseling. At the core of their mission is regular discipleship for both adults and children, sharing the Gospel while equipping families with practical tools for long-term stability and self-sufficiency.
Engage Hope began partnering with DACAM in 2018, strengthening their capacity through strategic support and targeted initiatives. Together, we have helped provide space for discipleship and vocational training, essential supplies for families facing flooding, relocation assistance for those displaced by severe conditions, and equipment to expand income-generating programs.
In addition, Engage Hope supports DACAM through short-term mission teams, seasonal relief efforts, and special initiatives that provide food security, medical outreach, and community encouragement during times of crisis.
Through this partnership, families are being equipped not only to meet immediate needs, but to build stronger futures rooted in faith, resilience, and hope.
