Helen and her twin sister faced a harrowing situation early in life. Their father, who struggled deeply with alcoholism, gave the girls over to prostitution to settle a debt incurred while drinking. It was only when a Good Samaritan stepped in that they were rescued from that situation. Education is now their only hope for building a future of their own.
