Pastor Isiko Charles officially became an Engage Hope ministry partner in 2018, but he has been a great friend to Engage Hope from the very beginning of the ministry.  Since 2010, Pastor Charles has coordinated the transportation for Engage Hope sponsored trips to Uganda.

Charles is the president of New Life Missionary Churches and personally pastors Makandwa New Life Missionary Church in Jinja, Uganda.  He has a heart for evangelism and discipleship. Through his leadership, 22 churches have been planted, and he continues to disciple and prepare new leaders for more church plants.  Charles is a great spiritual leader in the community.  He teaches classes on how to read and study scripture, engages in door to door evangelism and disciples new Christians as they grow in their faith.  In February of 2018, Charles founded the New Life Christian School to provide orphaned and needy children in the community access to kingdom education.

Engage Hope, and its many generous donors, have been able to help Pastor Charles with funding for the following projects and programs:

  • a new well for the community to give them access to freshwater
  • Bibles for Charles to distribute to his new church plants
  • new doors and windows for the New Life Christian School
  • roof for the Makandwa New Life Missionary Church
  • cement to finish relocating the Makandwa New Life Missionary Church
  • purchased a church building for one of Charles’s new church plants
  • Through generous donors, Engage Hope funded the purchase of farmland adjacent to the school.  This will enable the school to provide food for the students.

Short-Term Mission Trips – Teams sponsored and led by Engage Hope share the gospel with children in the program through Bible stories, and arts and crafts.  The team visiting in 2020 hosted a nutrition clinic for over 300 women and provided a hot meal and rice, beans, and posho (corn flour) for each family present.  The goal of each Engage Hope trip is to share the gospel of Christ and make disciples by first meeting physical needs which opens the door to meeting spiritual needs.

COVID Relief Fund – To prevent the spread of COVID, the Ugandan government locked down the country, including closing schools and prohibiting public and private transportation.  Engage Hope raised funds to send to Ministry Partners to help them purchase food for families of sponsored children as well as other families in their ministries who were going hungry.
