Following the death of his mother, Joram was left in the care of his father, who struggled with drug addiction and was unable to provide for his basic needs of food, shelter, and care. With no stable home or guidance, Joram turned to the streets. He was later picked up by the police and referred to African Hearts Transition Home, where he found safety, care, and a sense of belonging.
At the transition home, Joram began to rebuild his life. Efforts to reconnect him with family led to a reunion with his uncle, who has generously offered shelter and food. However, his uncle does not have the financial means to support Joram's education, placing him at real risk of dropping out of school.
Joram is a bright young boy with a dream of becoming a doctor. Without continued access to education, he is vulnerable to negative influences and the same cycle of hardship that has marked his young life.
