Rihanna lost her father a year ago and is now being raised solely by her mother, who also cares for her two brothers. She had previously been supported by a sponsor, but that sponsorship was recently discontinued. Since receiving that news, she has struggled to concentrate in class and has carried a visible weight of worry about her ability to remain in school.
